My Favourite Things About Summer! || Guest Post by Macey!

Hi there, I’m Macey and I’m a friend of Sophie’s I haven’t got a blog yet, but I do plan to start one sometime soon! Sophie and I met on Twitter, and although we live far away from each other and haven’t met (yet!), I think I can honestly say that she is one of the nicest people I know, and we are great friends Sophie was so kind as to tell me that I could guest post on her wonderful blog, and I thought I might as it would be a great experience. So without further ado, I’ll tell you my most favourite things about summer!
I think the first and most obvious pro about the summer holidays is TIME. Time is something I know I lack in throughout the school year, what with SCHOOL, revision, and things of that sort. However, when summertime comes, I have SO MUCH time to just do whatever I jolly well please! Nearly all of my favourite things fall under this first point because I have the time to do them!

One of my most loved pastimes might seem a bit childish, but I love it so much I really could care less. This is something I started doing a loooooong time ago, and it has become a staple to my everyday summer routine. I listen to The Chronicles of Narnia by Focus on the Family Radio Theatre. I have loved these stories since I was small; they stemmed my love for England and my desire to go there one day. Sometimes while I listen, (this also might sound really childish haha), I’ll attempt to draw or colour, (failing miserably), as I find it really therapeutic. I really would like to get the Secret Garden: An Inky Treasure Hunt and Colouring Book by Johanna Basford as it looks SO incredible. Putting those two things together probably gets me more excited than I should be!

Another WONDERFUL thing about summer is going on holiday, taking a trip to some of the lovely places in California. Usually my family and my cousins go to the Avila/Pismo area. While we are there, we go to the beach (duh!), walk around Arroyo Grande, go to Avila Animal Farm and feed the goats, llamas, and other menagerie, eat some AHHHMAZING pizza from a place called Fatte’s (what a great name haha ;’)), or shop the Pismo Outlets. We might also go down to Morro Bay which is so beautiful especially during the summer, visit friends in Sacramento, or go watch the Giants play a great ball game by the bay in San Francisco! Where I live, it is STIFLING practically allllll summer, and it has been so much worse as California has been in a drought for the longest time, and going by the ocean is wonderfully REFRESHING.
One of the next best things is being with all of my favourite people. As a Christian, I’ve been super blessed to have attended an incredible church my entire life, and all my truest and closest friends I have grown up with are from church! Me and my girls have sleepovers, hang out and laugh until our abs feel as if we’ve undergone 100 crunches :’) Then the whole squad gets together every Friday, sometimes we go to the beach for a day, and have the BEST time.
One thing I’ve grown up with is also called VBS, and it’s when my church invites kids of all ages to come for a week from 6-9 p.m. where they can learn about God through song and
dance, activities, and getting to eat really great food ;) As a child, I took a part of this, and now that my friends and I have been older, we’ve taken part in helping run the stations and lead crews of kids, it’s one of my favourite times of the summer.

For me, as I have grown to love writing so so much these past couple of years, summer has been a great time to develop my skills in something that I love to do. I really enjoy sitting down with my cup of tea (crazy, I know it’s summer but I have to have my tea), and writing what’s on my mind and heart and expressing what I feel.
Reading books has been one of my favourite things since I learnt to do it! My dad taught me how to read when I was three, and I have lost myself in so many worlds since then. Of course with all the extra time I have, I tend to read a lot more than I do the rest of the year! Some of my favourites are The Chronicles of Narnia(ofc) -C.S. Lewis, The Hobbit/LOTR-J.R.R. Tolkien (yes I am that person), The Giver by Lois Lowry, and Anne of Green Gables-L.M. Montgomery, just to name a few. Give me some tea, get me a good book, and I am so contented with life!

I am sort of like Monica Geller (I say sort of cos I’m not all that tidy haha) as I like to organise EVERYTHING. Summertime means sorting time, and I organise my wardrobe, my drawers, and everything that I own :’) I like knowing where everything is and it’s so satisfying.

Now as I said before, the weather here KILLS. I always get happy and excited for summer, and then I melt before summer even comes because the 90’s hit in May and stay until October. This drought really is not working well for California :’) But like anybody else, I love to swim. When I’m in the water I could care less about how hot it is, although there have been plenty of times when I expect a blast of cold water, and all I got is lukewarm -_- Most of the time, the water is decently fresh, and I just love my grandma for having a pool with a diving board and 8 foot depth.

As an American, I get super duper excited for the 4th of July, as it’s our Independence Day! Both sets of my grandparents live in the same town, which is perfect, so we visit both sides of the family, have some well good fireworks, eat amazing food, and do our best to be grateful that we live in the United States of America, the land of the free and the home of the brave!
Although I am not a massive fan of summer weather, summer is one of the best times of year for me. I have so much time to do as I wish- I get to write, read all the books, SWIM (woooooo yeah!), listen to a story all day, everyday haha, and be in the best company. Summer holds some amazing memories, and so far this summer has been wonderful, and I’m sure it will continue to be memorable and full of fun!

I really hope you enjoyed this post, so much thanks and love to Sophie for letting me do this!  What are your favourite things about summer? Leave them in the comments below!

Life Without My iphone!*

If you know me, you know that I cannot live without my phone. I have to have it on me all the time and if someone else has it, I have to be with them at all times because I have such an emotional hold over it (it's bad, I know)! A few weeks back, I wrote a blog post about what's on my iphone and Microsoft Lumia company (Who work alongside Nokia) read it and got in contact with me, and asked if I would ever consider swapping my iphone for a Nokia Lumia 640! I have had androids and smartphones in the past and I have loved them, but I wanted to try out an iphone as there had been a lot of hype over them! However, I have a love/hate relationship with my iphone; the camera quality is great but the battery drains in seconds! Therefore, I was eager to try out a Lumia 640, to see if that suited me better then an iphone!

I was lucky enough to trial this device for 2 weeks and see if I preferred this to my iphone. At first when I received my package and opened the box, I was amazed at how big the screen was and how brightly coloured the back of the Lumia was! The screen was easily twice the size of my iphone 4s... however, I had mixed emotions about the size. I think where I am used to a small/standard screen size, I found it hard to use a large screen and this also made the phone quite hard to hold in my hand. However, I knew that I would become accustomed to it eventually!
When I first turned the Lumia on, I loved the layout of the home screen... it was so organised and you could move the little squares around and change the layout to suit you and your way of using the device. I think its great that you have this form of organisation and customisation. I also love the fact that the little apps/squares use photos from the apps and display them in a slideshow style on the squares, this makes the phone feel more personal to you :)
Not only do you have the chance to personalise your home screen to suit you, but you also have a full list of apps in one place, to choose from... and you can also take apps from here and move them onto the home screen.
My most used app has to be the Twitter app! I love twitter and as I said before in my previous post, I have three accounts to juggle, so the app is vital to have on my phone! However, I'm not a fan of how the Twitter layout looks on this device. It's obviously different to the layout on my iphone and I found it really hard to get used to. However, it didn't stop me from using it at all... it just meant that I would take a little bit longer to compose a tweet *Oh the struggles of life* haha!
Overall, I did enjoy using this device, however I am still not completely convinced to make the change from my iphone (sorry haha)! I found the Lumia 640 a little bit hard to get used to, as I am so used to the layout and function of iphones. However, this does not mean that the Lumia is a bad device! It's great and I would definitely recommend it... I'm just useless at using it haha! I think it'll be a great device for business people, as it has a very organised layout which you can modify to your preferred use! The only thing I will say about this device is, I found the actual device to be a little bit on the large side and my little hands found it hard to hold it (when holding in one hand)... although, this can be said for all phones, including the iphone 6 etc...so it's got nothing to do with the Lumia, just my personal preferences!
I hope you liked this kind of post! It was so interesting to try out a completely new device to what I am used to! Have you got a Lumia... or are you more of an iphone person?! let me know in the comments below :)

*Thank you to connects #connectstrial ... and Nokia(Microsoft) for sending me this Lumia 640 to trial.
*Although product has been sent to me and paid for by the company, all views and opinions are my own!

Australian Body Care: Body Lotion || Review*

One thing I love about going on holiday, is coming back into the cold air conditioned room after a long hot day of sunbathing, having a shower and then slapping on a ton of 'after sun'. Recently I have been loving the Australian Body Care Tea Tree Oil body lotion! The lotion helps to soothe and condition the skin, which can be used on a daily basis, even on sensitive skin like mine :)
http://www.feelunique.com/brands/australian-bodycare
It leaves your skin feeling "soft, supple, cooled and refreshed", perfect for your skin after a long day in the sun! It's such a light/thin consistency, which is great for people with oily/combination skin similar to mine! I have been loving using it after my baths and especially after I have shaved, as it leaves my skin feeling silky smooth and soothes my legs after I have used a razor on them. Most moisturisers I have used, leave my skin feeling greasy and sticky, however this one seeps into the skin instantly and does not leave you feeling sticky at all... which is great for when you are on holiday, because the last thing you want is to feel sticky from the products and heat/sweat!
My sister recently came back from Ibiza and she had several heat rashes and was very sun burnt in some places however she used this and the rash and burns instantly went down, due to the antiseptics in the product. She also found that her skin did not 'peel' where it usually would!
The only thing I would say about this product is, it is veryyyyyy strongly scented! Luckily I do not mind the smell of tea tree, however if you are not the biggest fan of the scent, then this product is not for you!
Overall, I love this product and I am definitely going to be repurchasing it as soon as I run out!
Have you tried this? What's your favourite/holy grail moisturiser?
*Thank you to Australian Body Care for sending me this product to review. Even though the product was not paid for myself, all views are 100% my own!

MAC Velvet Teddy || Review

I never thought in a million years that I would be writing this post (I know I said that about my Naked 3 post as well haha - proof that dreams do come true). For years and years and years I had been eyeing up MAC lipsticks, but I always thought that I would never be lucky enough to own one, as they are quite expensive (for a lipstick)! I would spend ages scrolling through the MAC website to find the shade for me... which I would buy in my dreams! Then as my 18th birthday came around, I took the chance and asked for one as a present ... but deemed it highly unlikely that I'd actually get one! Then on the 19th Of May, on my birthday morning I opened a tiny little present and to my surprise A MAC LIPSTICK BOX was inside!
If you've read my 'Out with the mauve and in with the nude' blog post, you'll know that I am obsessed with a nude lip! Who doesn't like the Kylie Jenner lip?! So of course I had to choose the MAC Velvet Teddy as my first shade... and what a great choice it was! I can wear it everyday, during the day and night... it goes with all make up and all outfits, it's an all round versatile lipstick... which I think is a great shade to start of with if you are a beginner with lipsticks!
Not only is the lipstick great but oh my god LOOK AT THAT PACKAGING! I love the sophistication of MAC packaging. So simple but so glamorous! The bullet packaging of the actual lipstick is so pretty... its matte black/off grey (with obviously the plastic sheen to it) with hints of sparkle and glittery goodness!

Now onto the actual product... all I can say is that it is worth every penny! Retailing at £15.50, which I know sounds like a lot for one lipstick but trust me, IT IS SOOOO WORTH IT! The consistency of the lipstick is so perfect... it glides on so smoothly and it does not dry out the lips at all, even though it is a matte lipstick. AND THE SMELL OH MY... I can only describe the smell as white chocolate or vanilla ice cream!
I have found several dupes for the MAC Velvet Teddy however one thing I will say is that all of those dupes do not last as long as the MAC lipsticks! I thought I'd have to reapply it at least 4 times throughout the day, but oh noooooo.... I rarely have to reapply at all! The shade is definitely a pink shade with a brown undertone... I would describe it as your natural lip colour with a little bit of 'oomft' < Great description I know! There's not much more I can say about it really... so I'm going to just put a few random photos of when I am wearing it, so you get the idea of how it looks on :)

I hope you liked this post :) Have you tried any MAC lipsticks?! What shade do you think I should try next?! Leave a comment below.
